Here's the truth: we got tired of the wine world acting like everything just... appeared. Like a grape simply belongs somewhere, the way a fact belongs in an encyclopedia.
Zinfandel is Californian.
Chenin Blanc is from the Loire.
Full stop.
End of sentence.
Nothing more to ask.
But nothing in wine just appeared.
And most of the time, if you dig one layer past the tasting notes, there's a person—or a whole people—who did the actual work and never got the credit.

My name is Taniesha. I'm Jamaican, living in New York, and I got into wine here, immersed in a world that mostly doesn't look like me or think about people who look like me.
And that's changing.
Brady's from Denver. He spent over a decade as a chef, moved to New York, where he worked as a sous chef until the restaurant closed. He went back to school and became a software engineer—the one building this site, line by line, so these stories have somewhere to live.
So when we started digging into wine, we kept noticing the same pattern everywhere we looked.
Grapes have migration stories.
Regions have migration stories.
Sometimes the people behind them chose to move.
Sometimes they didn't get a choice at all.
Either way, most wine writing skips straight past them to get to the part about tannins and however many likes it gets on social media.
